Highland Lakes Software and Kilmist Corp partner to build World Class Billing Solution
Austin, TX – Highland Lakes Software (HLS) has engaged Kilmist Corp to add their technological excellence to the creation of CAS Next Generation: a new vision for telecom billing software. CAS Next Generation is an implementation encompassing existing feature sets of the existing CAS product line, with technologically advanced architecture that empowers end users with unprecedented capabilities. CAS Next Generation provides not just cutting edge technology but sets new standards in features and functionality offered in billing systems today.
“This is a complete re-write from the ground up” says HLS President Steven Ray. “CAS has served the telecom market quite well for the past 23 years, but we were burdened by architecture that didn’t play well with emerging technology. CAS Next Generation will be deployed with state of the art technology allowing extensive interoperability, scalability, and functionality. Built-in globalization will make CAS Next Generation a true world-class solution.”
Based on Microsoft .Net technology, CAS Next Generation will be deployed in a Smart Client/Web Services architecture that separates the Data Access, Business Logic, and Presentation modules into three tiers. “Our goal with CAS Next Generation” says Ray, “is to architect the software to avoid getting boxed in by any of the major system components. For example, our use of XML between the client and business layer of the software creates an API to every file in the system. While our initial release will be based on Microsoft SQL Server 2005, our use of ADO.Net opens the door for migration to other databases such as Oracle.” “Additionally”, says Ray, “each tier of the software can be run on a different machine as long as the machines are connected via a LAN/WAN. This allows CAS Next Generation to be run locally or hosted through the internet.”
